The New Loud is a band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, formed by Shane Olivo (guitars and vocals), Jessi Nakles (keyboards and vocals) and Radish Beat (drums and vocals), who plays synth pop, alternative rock, dance, new wave and who receive a definition as its synonym: Intense.
At the first seconds of the song “Don't Dance”, which opens with a sensational golden key the EP “Can’t Stop Not Knowing” and the song who was also chosen to be the first single, we can clearly see that intensity already mentioned.
Moreover, I think this is the perfect song to set the New Loud. Incredible melody, impeccable vocal, awesome instrumental, slaps on bass (deservedly added, by the way) and a final worthy of a big “Wow!”
Shane, Jessi and Radish are so sensational musicians, that if I didn't knew that “2+2=5” was originally from Radiohead, would believe it was created by the New Loud. Their version is so great, that I can say without fear that I thought this one better than the original. Ok, fans of Thom Yorke and company will say “Are you crazy?!” But no. Just listen it to you understand [and perhaps agree with] what I'm talking about.
Giving sequence to their own music, the third track, “Heaven”, is one of the songs that I'm sure would make Dave Gahan and Martin L. Gore (Depeche Mode) feel guilty for not having done it first. Shane's vocals are more exciting in this track and his guitar has an unique softness aggressive. The effects used and the sweet vocalizations made by Jessi over the Radish's contagious beats, shows that “Heaven” really deserved to be the second single released.
About this music video, there is a very nice curiosity for those who like to analyze details: Shane told me that is really cool to watch it in HD / full screen, because all the faces that appear throughout the video, are nearly life size and then it really seems as if real people are looking at you, face to face.
[Particularly, I caught myself humming this song several times. And if I already thought this version brilliant, when I heard the “Extended” then...]
“The Short Way To Get You” is my favorite of the whole EP and as I said to Shane, it should be a single. The song begins with an introduction light and quiet and when we least expect it, it becomes the most dancing of “Can’t Stop Not Knowing”. The beautiful lyric, is packed with an abreast melody, that is added to upsets on drums, spectacular arrangement and wonderful vocals.
The demo “Every Girl I See” left me jaw dropped. Seriously, there are no words to describe the intensity of this song. It recalls a mix of The Cure with Joy Division, but without fail to know and remember that it is indeed the New Loud. “Every Girl I See” is undoubtedly the most captivating and exciting music of the EP. That's amazing. Amazing.

An EP that was opened with a golden key and had a magnificent course, could not be completed in a different way. I thought they could not impress me more with “Heaven”. My bad... The “Extended” version, which ends the EP, have a wonderful instrumental. Shows part of the versatility of the band and what they can do to further enhance a song. Summarizing, “Can’t Stop Not Knowing”, by the New Loud, was released earlier this year, but carries the title of one of the best albums of the year, in my opinion. It is an impressive EP, different from conventional and very [VERY] well-worked. You listening from beginning to end and regrets when it ends. So click on “repeat all”!
